Malene Helbak is known for her line of simple and colorful earthenware products for the home. Each brightly coloured piece is decorated by hand, with colours and patterns varying from piece to piece.

Malene Helbak graduated from the Kolding School of Design in 1997, her earthenware technique is called 'transfer printing' which involves baking the earthenware 3 times before applying a transparent glaze.  

"My mugs, plates and bowls are shaped so they can fulfill several functions. A cup without handle makes it more usable. Suddenly, it can also be used for pencils or as a vase, and it gives both me as a designer and the user more freedom. If the function is not predefined, I’m sure that we will be more aware of which product we use and why we use them "
